Meet the new Starboard

Starboard has been rebuilt from scratch. Members star a message with an emoji, and when it gets enough stars your bot posts a card of it on a board and keeps the count up to date. One complete board is now free.

What changed

Starboard has been rebuilt from scratch. Members react to a message with a star emoji, and when it gets enough stars your bot posts a card of it on a board channel. The card keeps its count up to date as stars come and go. The page has five tabs: Boards, What counts, The card, Leaderboard and Staff. The preview on the right shows the card in Discord as you change it.

One board free

The old Starboard needed Premium. The new one gives every bot one complete board, with every rule and its own card. Premium adds up to five boards (each with its own channel, emoji, stars needed, rules and card), star rewards, and autostar channels where the bot adds the board's emoji to every new message.

Set up your board

  1. Open Modules and click Starboard, then press Enable.
  2. Pick the channel for your board on the Boards tab.
  3. Press Save Changes.
  4. Ask three members to star a message, and watch its card appear on the board.

What you can set

  • What counts: leave out channels and roles, set an age limit, and choose whether self-stars and bots' messages count.
  • When stars are taken away: the card comes off the board or stays with the new count. Set a lower number to take it off at, so a card doesn't flicker on and off around the line.
  • The card: change the whole message the bot posts. Turn on Display tiers to give cards with lots of stars a new emoji and colour.
  • Leaderboard: /starboard top shows who has the most stars, and /starboard me shows your own stars, place and times on the board. Every reply can be changed.
  • Staff: right click a message to put it on the board with Send to Starboard, or take it off and keep it off with Remove from Starboard. Remove from Starboard works on the card too.

Good to know

  • Each server can have its own boards and settings. Pick a server in the menu at the top right of the page.
  • Starboard is made of ordinary builder blocks, and its cards are posted with Send or Edit a Message. The new When the reaction count on a message changes event and the message details it gives you ({event_message_text}, {event_message_image}, {event_message_reply} and more) work in your own commands and events too.
  • On free bots, each card ends with a small Starboard by BotGhost line.
  • The old Starboard keeps working. You'll find it as Starboard (old) in your modules if you have it on. Your old settings don't move across, so set up your board again in the new one.
  • The full guide, with pictures of every tab, is in the Starboard docs.
