Discord invite and link checker
Paste a Discord invite to check it really goes to Discord, then see the server behind it: its name, how many people are in it, how old it is, and when the link expires. You don't sign in, and you don't join the server.
What the Discord invite checker shows
We ask Discord about the invite and show you its answer. Check a random link someone DMed you before you click it, or make sure your own invite still works.
Server and channel
Name, icon, banner, and description, plus the channel new people land in.
Members and online
Total members and how many are online right now. Discord leaves these out for some servers.
Expiry
When the link expires, down to the minute. Permanent links say Never.
Boosts
Boost count and level. At Level 3 a server can give its invite a name.
Verification level
What Discord makes new people do before they can chat. It goes from nothing at all up to a verified phone.
Server ID and age
The ID, plus the day the server was made. If it's a week old and says it has 50k members, be careful.
How to tell if a Discord link is safe
Most fake Discord links are after your account. They copy Discord's login page, or get you to scan a code that signs you in on their device. Check these before you click.
Read the address letter by letter
Invites only use discord.gg/ and discord.com/invite/. Fakes swap a letter (dlscord, disc0rd), add a word (discord-nitro, discordgift) or hide Discord in a longer name (discord.gg.claim-now.ru). Paste a link above and the checker tells you if it leaves Discord.
Treat free Nitro from strangers as fake
A real Nitro gift shows up in chat as a gift box with an Accept button, and its link starts with discord.gift/. A plain link that promises free Nitro and asks you to sign in isn't one.
Never scan a QR code to "verify"
Discord's QR code is a login. Scanning one that a server or bot shows you hands them your account. Verification bots you can trust ask you to press a button, pick a role or solve a captcha.
Don't sign in from a link
Discord never asks for your password through a link in a DM. If a page asks you to log in, close it and open Discord yourself.
Look at the server too
A real invite can still open a scam server. A server made last week with thousands of members, or a big server with almost no one online, is worth a second look. The checker shows both.
When a Discord invite expires
Every invite gets a time limit and a use limit when someone makes it. An invite stops working for one of these four reasons.
- 1Time's up. The choices are 30 minutes, an hour, 6 or 12 hours, a day, a week, or never.
- 2Too many people used it. Caps go 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, or 100.
- 3A mod deleted it. Anyone with Manage Server can do that from Server Settings, under Invites.
- 4The channel's gone. Invites belong to a channel and get deleted with it.
Custom links like discord.gg/botghost don't expire. A server loses its custom link 30 days after dropping below boost Level 3.
How to make a Discord invite
You'll need permission to create invites. Discord gives it to everyone unless the server's staff turned it off.
- 1Click the server name in the top left (tap it on mobile).
- 2Hit Invite People. If you can't see it, you can't make invites in this server.
- 3For a time or use limit, press Edit invite link first, set it, then press Generate a New Link.
- 4Copy the link, or send it straight to a friend from the list.
Bots can do this too. In BotGhost, drop the Create Server Invite block into a command or event and it makes an invite that lasts up to 7 days, with a use cap if you want one. You'll find it in the Discord bot command builder.
Discord invite checker questions
Can this tell me if a Discord link is safe?
It checks the parts Discord can answer for: that the link really goes to Discord, that the invite works, how old the server is, whether Discord verified or partnered it, and how its member count looks. It can't see inside the server, so it can't vouch for what people post there.
Is the Discord invite checker free?
Yes, and you don't need an account. You wait 5 seconds between checks.
Does checking an invite join me to the server?
No. The checker only reads the invite, so you don't join and the server's members can't see that you looked.
Why does it say the invite is invalid?
Discord can't find that code anymore. Usually it timed out or got used up, but someone may have deleted it or its channel. Ask for a fresh one.
Why are the member and online counts missing?
Discord leaves them out of its answer for some servers, so we have no numbers to show.
How do I make a Discord invite that never expires?
Open the invite window, press Edit invite link, and set Expire after to Never. That link keeps working until someone deletes it in Server Settings, under Invites.
What's a custom invite link?
It's an invite with a name instead of random letters, like discord.gg/botghost. You need boost Level 3 for one. Our Discord vanity URL checker tells you if the name you want is free.
Welcome people by the invite they joined with
If you have a few invite links out, say one in your YouTube descriptions and one for a partner server, a BotGhost bot can work out which link each new person used. The Welcomer's Joined via an invite path can then greet them, give them a role, or DM them.
Set it up with the Discord welcome bot. It'll need the Manage Server permission to see invites.
Welcome @You! You joined with an invite from @Tom, so you got the Friend of Tom role.
