BotGhost
Dyno alternative

The Dyno alternative that puts moderation on your own bot

Dyno is the moderation bot 11.6 million servers reach for, and its automod is free. Levels, unlimited commands and your own bot name each sit on a separate paid tier, billed per server. BotGhost gives you automod, moderation and leveling free, a bot with your name from day one, and an event builder for the rules Dyno has no switch for.

  3. Condition

    Skip staff and regulars.
  4. Action

Every block is editable. Swap the timeout for a warning, add a strike counter, change the channel list, or send the case to a staff thread instead of a log channel.

What Standard costs across your servers

Dyno Standard is the tier that adds levels and unlimited commands, and it is per server. BotGhost Single Bot Premium is per bot, in as many servers as you like.

3servers
Dyno Standard Premium
$49.99 a year per server
$149.97per year

3 separate subscriptions, one per server.

BotGhost Single Bot Premium

$60per year

$89.97 less per year, and the same bot in every server.

Dyno prices from dyno.gg/premium on 10 September 2026. Dyno Premium ($7.99/mo) and Custom ($12.99/mo) tiers cost more per server; for a single server, Dyno Standard is cheaper than BotGhost Premium.

Why servers look for a Dyno alternative

Dyno's moderation is not the problem. These are the points where its tier structure and shared identity stop fitting some communities.

Three paid tiers, each per server

Dyno's premium page lists Standard at $5.99, Premium at $7.99 and Custom at $12.99 a month, and every one of them is for a single server. Levels are on Standard, social alerts on Premium, and your own avatar and username on Custom.

BotGhost:Two tiers. Free, which already includes leveling and your own bot identity, and Premium at $10 a month for one bot in unlimited servers.

Leveling costs extra

Dyno is a moderation bot first, and leveling is the clearest example: it is listed under the Standard tier rather than the free plan. Servers that want XP and a leaderboard alongside their moderation end up paying for the pair.

BotGhost:Leveling with XP, level-up messages, a leaderboard and an adjustable XP rate is on the free plan. An ad-free leaderboard is Premium.

Every rule is a switch

Dyno's automod is genuinely good, and it is a set of toggles and thresholds. The moment a server wants a rule that depends on who sent the message, what channel it is in and what happened before, there is no switch for it, only a feature request.

BotGhost:The event builder turns a message, join, reaction or role change into a flow: your conditions, your actions, your log format. The ready-made Automod module is still there for the common filters.

Your own bot is the top tier

A custom avatar, username and status for Dyno in your server is the Custom tier, $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year, per server. That is more than BotGhost's Premium, for something BotGhost includes free.

BotGhost:The bot is a Discord application you create, with your name and avatar from day one, on the free plan. You own it.

Top 5 Dyno alternatives, ranked

Ranked on how much of Dyno each one replaces, whether it adds what Dyno charges for, and whether the bot ends up being yours.

  1. BotGhost

    Full replacement, your own bot

Dyno's moderation and automod as free modules, leveling free where Dyno charges for it, and a bot that carries your name and avatar from the first minute. When a rule needs more than a switch, the event builder turns a message, join or reaction into a flow with your own conditions and actions.

    • Automod, moderation commands, logging, tickets, reaction roles and auto roles free
    • Leveling free, which is a paid tier on Dyno
    • Your own bot name, avatar and status on the free plan
    • Custom moderation rules built from blocks in the event builder
    • One Premium price ($10/mo) covers a bot in unlimited servers
    Pricing
Free forever. Premium $10/mo for one bot ($5/mo billed yearly) or $20/mo for unlimited bots.
    Best for
Servers that want Dyno's moderation on a bot of their own, or that outgrew what a settings page can express.
  2. MEE6

    Engagement first

Where Dyno leads with moderation, MEE6 leads with leveling and engagement, with moderation alongside. Same shape as Dyno otherwise: a shared bot, configured from a dashboard, with Premium sold per server.

    • Leveling, welcome messages and social alerts
    • Solid moderation, though automod is less deep than Dyno's
    • Premium per server; custom identity is an add-on
    Pricing
Free tier with Premium per server.
    Best for
Servers that wanted Dyno mainly for leveling and never used the deeper automod.
  3. Carl-bot

    Reaction roles, logging and tags

Overlaps with Dyno on automod, logging and autoroles, and beats it on reaction roles and its tag system for custom responses. A generous free tier and a long track record.

    • Automod, logging and reaction roles free
    • Tags for custom responses with a small scripting language
    • No leveling
    Pricing
    Free, with Premium per server.
    Best for
Servers that used Dyno for autoroles and logging and want stronger reaction roles.
  4. Wick

    Security specialist

Built around anti-nuke, anti-raid and permission abuse protection rather than everyday moderation. Best as a second bot next to whatever handles warns and mutes.

    • Anti-nuke and anti-raid protection
    • Verification and join gating
    • Narrow outside security
    Pricing
    Free, with Premium per server.
    Best for
Large or frequently raided servers that want a dedicated security layer.
  5. ProBot

    All-in-one

Moderation, leveling with rank cards, welcome images and an economy in one shared bot. Broader than Dyno, shallower on automod, and the same per-server Premium model.

    • Moderation, leveling, welcome images and economy
    • Dashboard configuration
    • Shared bot identity
    Pricing
    Free, with Premium per server.
    Best for
Servers that want one bot for everything and do not need custom rules.

MEE6, Carl-bot, Wick and ProBot change their plans from time to time, so their pricing is described in general terms. Check each site for current figures.

How to switch from Dyno to BotGhost

Run both bots side by side, copy the settings across, and remove Dyno once the new bot has handled a few days on its own.

  1. Create your bot and invite it next to Dyno

Sign in with Discord, create an application with your name and avatar, paste the token into BotGhost and invite the bot. Leave Dyno in place for now so nothing lapses.

  2. Copy your automod and mod log settings

Open the Automod module and switch on the same filters you had in Dyno: bad words, links, caps, emoji, mentions, invites. Set the moderation log channel and the roles that are exempt.

  3. Recreate autoroles, welcome messages and commands

Auto roles and join messages are modules with a settings page. Custom commands become slash commands in the builder; the marketplace has ready-made moderation commands to import if you want a head start.

  4. Build the rules Dyno could not, then remove Dyno

Use the event builder for anything that needed a condition Dyno lacked. Once the new bot has handled a few days of moderation, kick Dyno. Old warnings and cases stay in Dyno's dashboard, so export anything you need first.

Warnings, cases and mod history do not move between bots. Export anything you need from Dyno's dashboard before you remove it.

BotGhost vs Dyno, in detail

A longer look for anyone weighing the two. Every Dyno figure comes from Dyno's own premium page; everything about BotGhost can be checked on the free plan without a card.

Pricing: four tiers per server versus two tiers per bot

Dyno's premium page, read on 10 September 2026, lists a free tier and three paid ones. Standard is $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year and adds levels, unlimited commands and advanced automod. Premium is $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year and adds Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit and Kick integrations. Custom is $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year and gives the bot your avatar, username and status with better performance. Every tier is for one server.

BotGhost has a free plan with no expiry and no card, and one Premium tier: $10 a month, or $60 a year, for a bot in unlimited servers, or $20 a month for every bot on your account. Leveling and your own bot identity, which are Dyno's Standard and Custom tiers, are on the free plan. Social alerts are Premium on both.

In fairness, Dyno's free tier is more generous than BotGhost's on raw counts: 25 custom commands to 8, 10 autoresponders to 3, and three active giveaways where BotGhost's giveaways are Premium. If those numbers are what you need and you never want leveling or your own bot, Dyno's free plan is hard to beat.

Automod: the same filters, plus rules you build

Dyno's reputation rests on automod, and it deserves it. BotGhost's Automod module covers the same ground for most servers: bad words, links, mass caps, mass emoji, mass mentions and server invites, with exempt roles and channels, moderation logging, and the usual warn, mute, timeout, kick, softban, ban, purge and slowmode commands. All of that is free.

The difference is what happens past the switches. On BotGhost, a message is also an event you can build on. A flow can read the content, check the sender's roles and the channel, count previous strikes in a variable, and then delete, time out, warn or escalate to a staff channel with an embed you designed. Dyno's advanced automod on the Standard tier adds more thresholds; it does not add a place to write your own logic.

  • Automod filters with exempt roles and channels, free
  • Moderation commands and warning history, free
  • Custom events on messages, joins, reactions and role changes, 3 free and unlimited on Premium
  • Advanced logging of 42 event types on Premium

Leveling and engagement

Dyno lists Levels on its Standard tier. BotGhost includes leveling on the free plan: members earn XP for chatting, there is a leaderboard, and you can change the XP rate. An ad-free leaderboard is Premium. BotGhost also has economy, tickets, reaction roles and welcome banners free, so a server that wanted Dyno for moderation and something else for engagement can use one bot.

Ownership: whose bot is in the member list

Dyno is one bot in 11.6 million servers by its own count. Giving it your own avatar, username and status is the Custom tier, which is also where Dyno puts increased performance and uptime. On BotGhost the bot is a Discord application you create, so it carries your name and avatar on the free plan, and you keep the application if you ever leave. The only BotGhost branding is the "Made with BotGhost" status text, which Premium removes.

When Dyno is the better fit

If you run one server, want moderation and nothing else, and will never need a rule Dyno does not already have, Dyno's free tier is excellent and its automod is battle-tested at a scale few bots reach. Its TikTok and Kick alerts are also something BotGhost does not offer.

If you want leveling without paying for it, want the bot to carry your community's name, run more than one server, or keep wishing a rule could check one more thing, BotGhost is the better fit.
