What changed
Counting has been rebuilt from scratch, and it's now free for everyone. Pick a channel and your members count up together, one number each. The page has four tabs: Channels and rules, Mistakes, Milestones and Look. The preview on the right shows what happens in Discord.
Free for everyone
The old Counting needed Premium. The new one is free for every bot, with every setting on the page: several counting channels, saves, checkpoints, milestones, new records, the commands and posting counts as the member.
Set up your counting channel
- Open Modules and click Counting, then press Enable.
- Pick your counting channel on the Channels and rules tab.
- Press Save Changes.
- Type 1 in the channel.
What you can set
- Mistakes: start again from the first number, go back to the last checkpoint so a long run isn't lost, or keep going and delete the wrong number. Give whoever ruined it a role for a while if you like.
- Saves: the server earns a save every few counts. A mistake uses one up instead of ending the run.
- Rules: count with maths like
6*7, add a wait between counts, let someone count twice in a row, or let people talk in the channel. - Milestones and records: a message and a role every 100 numbers, or however often you pick, and a message when the count passes the channel's best.
- Post counts as the member: each right count is posted again with the member's name and picture, so nobody can edit it afterwards.
Faster variables
A busy counting channel saves a few values with every count. To keep up, Set Variable and Math on Variable got a lot faster for every bot, in Counting and in your own commands and events:
- In our tests, a block that took 422 ms now finishes in 0.1 ms.
- With 2,000 members changing the same value at once, every change is kept, and the slowest block finished in 0.7 seconds.
- Nothing changes in your blocks. They're just faster.
Good to know
- Each counting channel has its own game, and each server can have its own channels and rules.
- If someone deletes the last right number, the bot posts what the next number is, so nobody loses track.
- The bot needs View Channel, Send Messages, Add Reactions and Manage Messages in the channel, and Manage Webhooks to post counts as the member.
- Counting is made of normal builder blocks. Open its events in the Command Builder from the page to add your own.
- The old Counting keeps working. You'll find it as Counting (old) in your modules if you have it on.
