What changed
Handling errors used to mean building a reply out of blocks under the Error Handler. When it fails replaces that with a few choices on the command's top block. New commands start with it, so a failure gets a calm reply without you building anything.
Set it up
- Open a command and click its top block, then When it fails.
- Pick what the member sees: A friendly message (you can change the words), The reason it failed in plain words, or Nothing.
- Pick who sees it: Only them or Everyone in the channel.
- Turn on Post it in a channel to tell your staff, and pick the channel.
- Under After a block fails, pick Keep going or Stop the command.
A command gets one reply per run, however many blocks fail.
Check before it breaks
Some blocks save fine but will fail in Discord: a message to a channel your bot can't post in, or a role above your bot's highest role. Those blocks now show an amber note with what to do, and they're listed in Problems under To check. They never stop you saving. When a run does fail, Fix It For Me in the pop up can make an option required in one click, or reply in the channel when a member's DMs are off.
Nothing replied
If a command finishes without replying, Discord shows it as thinking until it gives up. The builder now warns you on the command's top block, and pops up when it happens with Add a reply.
And a few more things
- The builder's top bar is redesigned, with Import, Saved versions, Docs and Tutorial under More.
- New command options start as required, so members can't skip one a block needs.
{BGVAR_coins.leaderboard.10.{page}}shows a leaderboard one page at a time with Go to Page buttons.
Good to know
- Older commands keep the old Error Handler and work exactly as before, until you press Switch to When it fails.
- Events have no member to reply to, so they only log the error and can tell your staff.
- Every new feature can be switched off in Builder Settings.
