What changed
Collab lets other people work on your bot. Until now, every collaborator got the same broad access. Now you decide exactly what each person can do: view or edit commands and events, start and stop the bot, manage modules, data, secrets and more.
Pick a role
Every invite and every collaborator has a role. Four presets cover most teams:
- Viewer can see commands, events, modules and settings, and change nothing. Stored data and secret names stay hidden.
- Operator can start, stop and restart the bot, manage servers and view stored data.
- Builder is Operator, plus creating, editing and deleting commands and events, and managing modules.
- Admin gets everything a collaborator can be given.
For anything else, pick Custom and tick exactly what you want from 18 permissions, grouped into Commands, Events, Modules and settings, Running the bot, Data, Secrets and Collaborators.
Save your own roles
Keep ticking the same boxes? Under Saved roles, press New role, give it a name like "Mod team" and choose its permissions. Assign it to as many people as you like. Editing a saved role updates everyone who holds it.
Invite people
In Invite someone, pick how:
- Share a link: choose a role, set Expire after (30 minutes up to 7 days, or never) and Max number of uses (1 up to 100, or no limit), then press Generate link. Copy message gives you a ready-to-paste Discord message with the role and the link.
- By Discord ID: enter their Discord user ID, choose a role and press Send invite. The invite waits on their Collab page for 7 days.
See who changed what
The new Activity log shows what your team changed on your bot, newest first: collaborator saves, starts and stops, role changes and invites. Filter it by person, command or action, and click a command or event to open it in the builder.
Good to know
- Existing collaborators keep what they could do before, under a role called Full access.
- A bot can have up to 10 collaborators, 10 pending invites and 10 saved roles.
- People you invite by Discord ID need a Discord account linked to BotGhost first.
- Collaborators missing a permission can press Ask owner. You see the request on your Collab page and can Grant or Dismiss it.
- Anyone with Manage collaborators can only hand out permissions they hold themselves.
- When someone else has a command or event open, you see that they are editing it. If you both save, you are asked whose version to keep.
