# Edit a channel ## Edit a channel Edit a channel in the server. {% hint style="warning" %} Warning: The bot must have Manage Channels to be able to Edit a channel. {% endhint %} ## Channel The channel you want to edit. See the chart below: | Action | Response | | ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | | Channel the command was used in | Edit the channel the command was executed in. | | Channel Option | Edit the channel you selected with the Channel Option. | | Channel ID | Edit the channel via its Channel ID. | ### Channel the command was used in Edit the channel the command was executed in.

### Channel Option Edit the channel you selected with the Channel Option.

### Channel ID Edit the channel via its Channel ID.

## Name The name for the edited channel. Don't want to change the name? Leave this blank.

## Topic A topic for the edited channel. Don't want to change the topic? Leave this blank. {% hint style="warning" %} Warning: This only works for Text Channels {% endhint %}

## Category The category to put this channel under. Don't want to change the Category? Leave it blank.

## Slowmode An optional rate limit (in seconds) that you want to set the edited channel too. Don't want to change the Slowmode? Leave this blank. {% hint style="warning" %} Warning: This only works for Text Channels {% endhint %}

## NSFW Whether or not to allow NSFW content within the channel. This channel will be age restricted to 18+. {% hint style="warning" %} Warning: This only works for Text Channels {% endhint %}

## User Limit An optional limit to set the size of the voice channel. Don't want to change the User Limit? Leave this blank. {% hint style="warning" %} Warning: This only works for Voice Channels {% endhint %}

## Optional Server ID An optional server Id to search for the channel in. An ID or Variable can be used. Leave this blank to search for the channel in the server this command was triggered in.

## Reason An optional reason the channel is being edited. Don't want to put a reason? Leave this blank.

## Permissions Add Role and User Permissions to this edited channel. Leaving this blank will allow default channel permissions. {% hint style="info" %} Click the Add Permissions button for each individual Role or User you want to add to the channel. {% endhint %} ## Merge Permissions Instead of having your permissions overwritten when you edit a channel, you can merge the permissions you specify with the already existing permissions set in the channel.

What the merge permission option looks like in the builder

If you enable this option, the permissions you specify will be merged with the permissions that are already in the channel. It won't touch or edit any permissions that are not specified. If you leave this option disabled, the permissions in the channel will be overwritten with the permissions that you specify. ## Role The selected role to configure in the channel.

### Allow Permissions to allow in the Edited Channel.

### Deny Permissions to deny in the edited channel.

## User The user to apply the permissions to. Either a User ID or User Option.

### Allow Permissions to allow the user in the Edited Channel.

### Deny Permissions to deny the user in the Edited Channel.
